Padel court size

How much space a padel court needs

A full padel court plays on 10 × 20 m (about 33 × 66 ft). The space you need around it depends on whether it's outdoors on its own slab, inside a building, or set up for out-of-court play. Every site is different, so we evaluate yours before settling the layout.

The numbers

Court, slab and building

Full court

10 × 20 m · about 33 × 66 ft

The standard playing area for doubles, for indoor and outdoor courts.

Outdoor slab

About 38 × 70 ft

One full court needs a slab of about 38 × 70 ft, roughly 2,660 sq ft. You may also need about 5 ft cleared around the slab for access, which we confirm on site.

Single court

6 × 20 m · about 20 × 66 ft

A narrower court for singles play, where a full court won't fit. See court options.

Indoor clear height

At least 26 ft (8 m)

Clear height over the whole court, per the FIP (Fédération Internationale de Padel). 30 ft or more is better.

Layout

Around and between courts

Indoor spacing

We recommend 4 to 5 ft of walkway between courts so players can move around safely. A court can also be built right up against a wall. Every building is different, so we evaluate the layout on site.

Out-of-court play areas

The open areas where players chase the ball outside the court are popular on TV, but they're mostly for professional-level play, not recreational courts. If you want them, plan for a 2 × 8 m area on both sides of the court, which adds to the footprint.

How high does an indoor padel court ceiling need to be?

At least 26 ft (8 m) of clear height over the whole court, per the FIP. 30 ft or more is better.
